This cap & socks combo are created in an easy cluster pattern that will take no time at all to work up. Created in Caron Simply Soft yarn, they are so cuddly you'll wish you could wear them yourself!

Instructions are written for the beginning crocheter, using no abbreviations in the main pattern.
Crochet Lace Cap & Socks
Materials
Caron Simply Soft No Dye Lot Yarn (or other Medium Weight 4), Soft Pink - 1/2 Skein (3 oz.)
G /6 4.25mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
Finished Size
Cap: 1 Size - 14" circumference
Socks: 3 [6, 12] months
Gauge
4 clusters = 1 inch
Pattern Notes
Instructions are given for size 3 months. Changes (where applicable) are in parenthesis.
Cap: Worked in the round beginning at the crown.
Tube Socks: Worked in rounds starting at the toe.
Special Pattern Stitches
Beginning cluster (beg. cluster): Ch 2; yo, insert hook in first sc, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook, (yo, insert hook in next sc, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice, yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook.
Basic cluster (cluster): Yo, insert hook in same sc as last st, yo and pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook, (yo, insert hook in next sc, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice, yo and draw through all 4 loops on hook, ch 2 loosely.
Cap
With G hook, chain 4. Join with slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1: Chain 5; (double crochet, chain 2) 5 times in ring. Join with slip stitch to 3rd chain of beginning chain 5. (6 dc, 6 ch sps)
Round 2: Chain 3; *3 double crochet in next chain space, double crochet in double crochet. Repeat from * around. Join with slip stitch in top of beginning chain 3. (24 dc)
Round 3: Chain 4; *double crochet in next double crochet, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join with slip stitch in 3rd chain of beginning chain 4. (24 dc, 24 ch sps)
Round 4: (right side) Chain 2, turn; insert hook in first double crochet, work beg. cluster, chain 2 loosely, cluster around to the last double crochet, half-double crochet in last double crochet. Join with slip stitch to top of beginning chain 2.
Round 5: Chain 1, turn; single crochet in half-double crochet and in each of next 2 stitches, *skip next stitch, single crochet in each of next 2 chains. Repeat from * around to the last 2 stitches; skip next stitch, single crochet in beginning chain 1.
Rounds 6-9: Repeat rounds 4-5.
Round 10: Chain 1, turn; *(single crochet, chain 1, single crochet) in next single crochet, skip next single crochet. Repeat from * around. Join with slip stitch to beginning chain 1.
Fasten off and weave in the yarn ends.
Tube Socks
With G hook, ch 4. Join with slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1: Chain 1; work 7 (9, 11) single crochet in ring. (8 [10, 12] sc)
Rounds 2-3 (4, 5): Chain 1; *single crochet in next 2 single crochets, 2 single crochet in next single crochet. Repeat from * around. Join with slip stitch to beginning chain 1.
Round 4 (5, 6): (right side) Chain 2, turn; insert hook in first single crochet, work beg. cluster, chain 2 loosely, cluster around to the last single crochet, half-double crochet in last single crochet. Join with slip stitch to top of beginning chain 2.
Round 5 (6, 7): Chain 1, turn; single crochet in half-double crochet and in each of next 2 chains, *skip next stitch, single crochet in each of next 2 chains. Repeat from * around to the last 2 stitches; skip next stitch, single crochet in beginning chain 1.
Rounds 6-8 (7-9, 8-10): Repeat rounds 4 and 5.
Round 9 (10, 11): Chain 1, turn; 2 single crochet in half-double crochet and in each of next 2 chains, *skip next stitch, 2 single crochets in each of next 2 chains. Repeat from * around to the last 2 stitches; skip next stitch, 2 single crochet in beginning chain 1.
Round 10 (11, 12): Chain 2, turn; insert hook in first single crochet, work beg. cluster, chain 2 loosely, cluster. Work 6 (7, 8) clusters normally. For each remaining cluster around, start each cluster in next single crochet instead of same single crochet.
Rounds 11-13 (12-15, 13-16): Repeat rounds 9-10.
Round 14 (16, 17): Chain 1; *(single crochet, chain 1, single crochet) in next stitch, skip next stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with slip stitch to beginning chain 1.
Fasten off and weave in the yarn ends. Repeat for other foot.
