I have combined my love of quilts and crocheting to dream up and create a line of beautiful quilt inspired pillows. You can also make several quilt pattern squares and sew them together to make a stunning afghan. This pattern looks hard, but is quite easy. You just need to know the basic sewing and crochet stitches.

Cut yarn leaving an approximate 18 inch piece of yarn at the end of each leaf. This string of yarn will be used to sew the leaves to the black crocheted square.
Green Branch (make 4)
Row 1 - Ch 18, dc in 3rd ch from hook, and in each ch across. Cut yarn leaving an approximate 20 inch piece of yarn at the end of each branch. This string of yarn will be used to sew the branch to the black crocheted square.
Pink Roses (make 4)
Row 1 - Ch 4, sl st to beginning chain. Ch 3, make 11 dc in ring, sl st to beginning ch 3.
Row 2 - In the first dc make 2 sc, 2 dc, 2 sc, ch 3. Repeat this pattern in each dc around. sl st to beg st. Cut yarn leaving an approximate 18 inch piece of yarn at the end of the rose. This string of yarn will be used to sew the roses on the black square.
Sewing and Assembling the Crocheted Quilt Block
1. Lay the black square front side up on a flat surface. Use the tape measure to make sure the quilt design is centered on the square. It is best if you look at the picture for the placement of the crocheted pieces.
2. Evenly space the roses at the top, bottom and sides of the black square. Pin the roses to secure their placement.
3. Pin branches in between the roses so that they look as if they are connected to the roses.
4. Pin the leaves so that they go around in a circular motion with two leaves on the inside of each branch, and three leaves on the outside of each leaf. Refer to the picture for placement of the leaves.
Once all the pieces are pinned on, it is time to sew the crocheted quilt design to the square. Using a needle and the yarn left at the end of each piece, sew the leaves, stems and flowers to the crocheted square. When sewing each piece, carefully slide the needle through the front of the black square making sure not to go through the entire square. This leaves a clean back. This is especially helpful if you are making these squares into an afghan. After each piece is sewn on, cut yarn and weave in the ends.
Assembling The Pillow
1. Place the black squares right sides together. Using your black yarn and needle, sew around the outer edges of the squares leaving an approximate 3 inch opening. Turn pillow right side out.
2. Stuff your quilt pattern pillow.
3. Once you completely stuff the pillow, sew the pillow opening closed. Cut yarn, weave in the ends.
