Bindi Irwin is looking to continue her father's hard work and dedication to his craft through her own television show.
"I am trying to get across the message that, don't be afraid of animals, they're just put on this earth to help the environment and everything like that," she said to, "Australian Story."
Bindi feels doing this is the best way to possibly continue spreading her father's message.
"It's just the most amazing thing that we could ever do," said Bindi.
Terri Irwin, Steven's widow, said she is positive her husband would be nothing but proud of his daughter's endeavor. Her father would most certainly be proud that his daughter said she learned things from her father that will be included in the show.
"The big things that I've learned from my dad is that you can just say what you want to say," said Bindi.
Steve, 44, died when a stingray's poisonous barb penetrated his heart in the Australian Great Reef.
Moreover, Bob Irwin, grandfather to the Irwin children, said to the Australian Associated Press that his granddaughter is a "real professional" and loves the spotlight.
Throughout the months following Irwin's death, rumors of Bindi becoming the star of her own television show were underway. In addition, Bindi has also been filming the Irwin family from the beginning.
Steve Irwin had made a point to take pride in his daughter and her hard work, saying "I just want to be co-star to my daughter."
In front of an audience of about 5,000 people, Bindi said the following at her father's memorial service on September 20, 2006:
" My daddy was my hero - he was always there for me when I needed him. He listened to me and taught me so many things, but most of all he was fun.
I know that Daddy had an important job. He was working to change the world so everyone would love wildlife like he did. He built a hospital to help animals and he bought lots of land to give animals a safe place to live.
He took me and my brother and my mum with him all the time. We filmed together, caught crocodiles together and loved being in the bush together.
I don't want Daddy's passion to ever end. I want to help endangered wildlife just like he did.
I have the best daddy in the whole world and I will miss him every day. When I see a crocodile I will always think of him and I know that Daddy made this zoo so everyone could come and learn to love all the animals. Daddy made this place his whole life and now it's our turn to help Daddy."
Bindi's show, "Bindi: The Jungle Girl" will premiere on the Discovery Kids Channel on June 9th, 2007.

Post a CommentThis little girl is so cute, courageous, smart, and down to earth. I'm thinking that she may just outshine her old pop and wouldn't that make him proud? Crikey!
