Crop Circles and the Shroud of Turin

Unquestionably one of the world's greatest unexplained mysteries, Crop Circles continue to appear out of nowhere and intrigue those of us who find ourselves mysteriously drawn to these remarkable geometrically accurate formations.

As I sat amidst some 30 Crop Circle devotees; invited guests in the home of movie producer Suzanne Taylor ("What on Earth? - inside the Crop Circle Mystery") at her beautiful home tucked away on the mountain side of the Hollywood Hills, I couldn't help but be impresses with the diverse mix of individuals that had assembled to share their thoughts and experiences with the crop circle phenomenon.

A prominent physician, television producers, academics from all walks of life and simple housewives caught up in the magical configurations that continue to appear overnight, without logical explanation, and in remote places and countries around the world.

Regular followers of my writings will know of my continuing interest in all things mysterious, and in particular with the world's greatest unexplained mystery the Shroud of Turin. It was my continuing research into the mysterious image of on the Shroud that brought me once again into the 'Crop' circle.

Quite amazingly on the 30^th of July this year (2010) at Wickham Green , near Hungerford, Berkshire, England a mysterious circle arrived in a wheat field that appeared from ground level to be nothing more than a series of circular shapes incased in a giant oval. On the other side of the M4 highway a slightly similar circle also appeared. When researchers viewed the circles from an aircraft above and superimposed the one on the other there surprise must have been similar to second Pia when he first developed his negative image of the face on the Turin Shroud.

There undeniably was an image that bore amazing similarity to the face on the shroud!

Like the cessation of investigation into the image on the Shroud of Turin which was brought about by the now proved in accurate carbon dating of the shroud in 1988, most serious investigation into the crop circle phenomena ceased when two hoaxers known as Dug and Dave, in 1991 confessed to creating crop circles in the English country side. Whilst there is little argument that hoaxes do exist it is extremely hard to dismiss the hundreds of totally unexplainable configurations that continue to appear literally overnight across the four corners of the world.

Whilst stories of Atlantis and mysterious disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle continue to thrive funded by Hollywood and the popular press there is no proof that anyone is making any kind of substantial money by producing crop circles, totally disregarding the amazing skill and geometric knowledge displayed at some of these remarkable creations.
