Cunards Luxurious Flagship

Should you be looking for a romantic break then look no further than a Cunard cruise. In fact look no further than taking a crossing on their flagship, Queen Mary 2.

A transatlantic crossing on the Queen Mary 2 will make you so many romantic memories you will be bragging forever.

The Queen Mary 2 debuted in 2004 and has been considered the grandest liner ever built and today it is the only ship that offers regular crossings between New York and Southampton.

And should space be high up on your list of requirements then go for a top of the line 9,000 sq. ft. suite that comes complete with an elevator, butler and staff.

For more modest accommodation then you may consider a duplex apartment, forward suites or jr. suites. There are also various sized staterooms of which 783 boast balconies.

Once you have finished promenading the deck and socializing over tiny sandwiches and warm scones you might just want to check out the Canyon Ranch SpaClub.

It is at the Canyon Ranch SpaClub that you will discover 20,000 sq. ft. filled with a gym, weight room, whirlpools, saunas and a thalassotherapy pool.

During your six day crossing you can never be bored. Among the activities offered is a video arcade, golf driving range, putting green, a jogging track, indoor and outdoor pools, shuffleboard and table tennis.

You may wish to take part in the Cunard Insights program which spotlights notable speakers in areas that range from literature and science to world affairs and history.

For the shoppers you can prowl the Mayfair Shops, a collection of boutiques that circle the Grand lobby and enjoy the delights from Hermes to Escada.

The Queen Mary 2 also is home to the largest library to be found at sea, boasting more than 8000 volumes and furnishes with enticing leather chairs and sofas. There is also a book- shop in the library which plays host to book signings when there are authors aboard.

Once evening arrives you will be beckoned to productions in the Royal Court Theatre, the Queens Rooms and of course dancing in the G32 nightclub. Plus, let's not forget the bustling bar at the Empire Casino and the uber-chic Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar.

And where to dine?

Well, those of you that have elected for top- notch accommodation then you will have your own private restaurants but for everyone else there is a culinary world just waiting for you.

The Britannia Restaurant is a 3-deck extravaganza with a grand central staircase. Here, breakfast and lunch are open seating but dinnertime offers two sittings.

Then of course there is the Todd English, a 156- seat restaurant that bears the name of the celebrity chef and showcases his Mediterranean cuisine. There is a supplemental charge for dining here and reservations are required.

For down to earth pub grub then you can take a trip to the Golden Lion Pub. Here you will find good old English Fish and Chips.

And of course there are many more wine bars and cafes.

Fares for a six- day crossing on the Queen Mary 2 start at $1,295
