Cross Florida Greenway: Baseline Road Trailhead

Just Minutes from Silver Springs, Florida

Part of the awesomely huge Cross Florida Greenway, Baseline Road Trailhead is located just minutes from Silver Springs, Florida. With so much to do and see in Silver Springs, this hidden gem often gets overlooked.

The Baseline Road Trailhead is located off of SR 464 on SR 35, just a few minutes ride from Silver Springs and a few more minutes east of Ocala, Florida. Once you're on SR 35 (Baseline Road) the trailhead is on the right. Ample parking is available for all.

What makes this park special is its ability to please everyone with something fun to do. Biking and roller blading are particularly popular along the over five mile long multi-use paved trail.

Don't feel like hitting the pavement? Unwind through the forests several miles of secluded hiking trail or use it as a segment trail for hiking across the state of Florida along the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway a part of the Florida national trail system.

This unique recreational opportunity is accessible to wheelchairs, truly making this a park for everyone. Got Kids? The perfect playground is available for climbing, swinging and sliding.

My favorite part of the Baseline Road Trailhead is the disc golf course. It's an open course punctuated with a few trees and of course, disc golf baskets/goals. There is a nearby toilet and water fountain for those who need it.

Much of the area was once an open pasture land and it is now being planted with long leaf pines in a restoration effort to replant the original forest.

Baseline Road Trailhead also offers a few covered picnic shelters along with all of the gear you need for the perfect picnic. Tables, water, restrooms and basic grills are set up for the ultimate lunch after a hard day playing disc golf or riding your mountain bike.

All in all, this park is close to the city, attractions and has a ton of fun stuff to do. Best of all, it's all free!
