Crosses in the Pine Trees - an Ode to the Jersey Pines

There are crosses - yes, crosses - in the pine tree.

And now you can clearly see

Those crosses in the Jersey pine tree

- They prove Christ died for you and me...

One day, as I was strolling, and much to my great surprise,

I saw those little Jersey crosses, and tears suddenly filled my eyes.

For there in front of me, standing majestic and so very, very tall...

Was a large, handsome pine tree, with crosses and all.

All those little crosses, so many over the years and years

Each of those little crosses shows that God really does care;

For He gave His only Son on that cross for you and for me,

Then, as a reminder to us, placed the little crosses in the pine tree.

Were I to count each and every one, no doubt I would see

That each of those tiny crosses stands for Christ's suffering for me.

Now, for me, each and every day, those little Jersey crosses are a reminder of that day

When Christ gave up His life for us, teaching us His way...
