Jordan is the star of the show and opens things by hearing a gunshot in the apartment above her. Being the rebel she is, she doesn't wait for back up but goes directly up there after calling the cops. She walks in to find a girl with a gun and her dead father. But alas, she "didn't do it."
Something is amiss with the daughter and her dead father. They find a case full of guns in the apartment. Not only that, but someone drives by and shoots at her, nearly hitting both the girl and Jordan.
Woody and the new girl, Lu, finally get down with their naughty selves. You could tell from her first scene that she was supposed to be his new love interest. She's cute but boy did it take them a while to get around to doing the dirty. And who plays word association games post-sex?
Anyway, Jordan being her take-charge self steals the show away from Lu. She gets the girl to say what she saw when the psychologist, Lu, couldn't get any response. But when Jordan discovers the kid lied, she plays rough and loses some credibility with the case. Everyone knows it reminds Jordan of her own experience losing a parent to a murderer, but making it her personal mission to fix everything isn't her job. But as anyone who watches Crossing Jordan knows, she does that in every episode and usually ends up with everything turning out all right. And of course, Jordan makes peace with both the girl and Lu just in time to save the girl from yet another attempt on her life.Wait, there's more! The dead father was on video footage with an FBI agent, making this death even more peculiar. Apparently the man was a small fish in a much bigger pond. Naturally, Woody finds the FBI agent to get some answers, including a list of suspects. One guy's mug shot matches the sketch of the guy who killed the kid's father.
The girl disappears and Jordan is off to find her. She has the smart idea to look in her home, but poor execution means the man trying to kill her finds Jordan instead. Again, this is nothing new as Jordan always finds herself in a bad situation and still always manages to come out on top.
Meanwhile, Nigel, Lily, and Dr. Macy are dealing with a rich dead man who had no business being where he died. His family wants to pay the family of the black woman he was killed with to keep silent with the press. When the mother rejects the offer, her daughter is trashed in a press conference as a drug addicted street person. I'd be suing for slander as fast as I could get a lawyer to file the papers.
Sweet grief counselor Lily seems to be the moral center of the show. She always asks the right questions and tries to do the right things, usually in disagreement with what Dr. Macy has asked of her. She wants the mother of the slandered girl to know what happened and why her daughter is dead. Lily's good nature rubs off on the dead guy's wife and she comes forward to tell the grieving mother about the connection between their loved ones.
Is it me or is there something incredibly sexy about the dorky Nigel? Man alive, the things he does to a woman's hormones! Anyway, being the smart man he is, Nigel discovered the rich man has African American ancestry and is a sickle cell carrier. Turns out, the rich man and black woman were related from several generations ago. Ah-ha, now we know why the man's family got the court order to keep the autopsy results silent.
The only disappointing thing about this episode is there wasn't as much humor as there tends to be. But then, I tend to like when Nigel gets a bigger role. And where was Bug? He ran a few things in a computer and that was it? Are we not supposed to be expecting something will happen between Bug and Lily? And most importantly, is Crossing Jordan even available on DVD because I just got into this show and would love to see the first four seasons.
