We happened across Croteaux Vineyards one crisp fall day and were pleasantly surprised by the quality wine we sampled.

All of their wines are produced such as those produced in the south of France and all their grapes are grown for the purpose of making fresh pink wine.

We were greeted by Paula Croteaux in the quaint tasting room. She led us outside to a lovely view of the vineyard where a small outdoor bar is set-up along with intimate tables and french country furnishings in the converted barn to tasting area.

We sampled Merlot 314 Rose', which is produced in stainless steel barrels. A pleasing fruity flavor combination of melon, cherries, cranberries and papaya hits the palate just right.

Next we sampled Merlot 3 Rose' which is fermented in oak barrels. This wine is a a full bodied wine with a smoky oak flavor permeated through out with hints of vanilla and butterscotch and a dash of praline. It has a wonderfully smooth texture.

We also sampled Paula's sangria and went home with the recipe. The sangria was a superb mixture of wine, fruit and a touch of alcohol, perfect for dinner parties.

Paula also served a delightful snack of pumpkin seeds with spices that was a great pairing with the wine.

We purchased a few bottles of both wines and look forward to serving them to our family for Thanksgiving.

We highly recommend this wonderful establishment. For more information check out their website: www.croteaux.com

Enjoy.
