Of course, now, you have to look at it all realistically: as a medical person aboard these ships, you are going to be just as busy as you would be as a medical person on dry land. People are going to be slipping on wet decks, eating things that don't agree with them, getting headaches, catching colds, etc. You are going to be quite busy all the time... but you will be able to enjoy yourself and have a really great time the rest of the time!
There are many books at your local bookstore that delve deep into the subject of working aboard cruise ships. It really becomes a lifestyle in itself, and there are many changes that will need to be made. You also really have to take into consideration the life you will have to leave behind and whether you can really handle that. For instance, is there anyone that depends on you like a spouse or child? If so, living a life aboard a cruise ship really may not be for you as you are required to live your entire life aboard the cruise, away from your family. Also, take into consideration things like your religious and/or spiritual life as it can most definitely be impacted by such a lifestyle.
So, once you decide that the cruise ship lifestyle most definitely is for you, you can proceed with finding a position for yourself. You can do this by writing to various cruise lines, or you can do a search on the Internet. There are probably more cruise lines than you can imagine, so you may want to do a little research into them to see if they are what you are interested in. Some of the bigger cruise lines include names like Carnival and Disney, but make sure to check out the less-known names like Delta Queen and Alaska Sightseeing. Also try working with some agencies that will directly hook you up with a cruise line. Some names include Trident International and Apollo Ship Chandlers.
Happy looking for a job at sea!
