American Idol Mentor: Advice from Jamie Foxx to Crystal Bowersox
Jamie Foxx is a singer, actor and stand-up comedian. He should easily put the contestants at ease when they work with him. He won an Academy Award for the film Ray and a two Grammy awards. His first Grammy was in 2006 for being the Favorite Male R&B Artist. With Jamie Foxx's extensive career combining film and song this week's "Songs from the Movies" theme fits him perfectly.
Jamie said that Crystal has to not be intimidated. "I'm Alright" needs to be a testimony and Crystal needs to make it that way.
Jamie Foxx brought in t-shirts that either said 'artist' or 'contestant' on them. He gave each contestant a shirt depending on how their rehearsal went. Crystal got an 'artist' t-shirt.
Crystal Bowersox's "I'm Alright" Performance
Crystal was onstage with her guitar and a drummer. She looked completely at ease and determined with just a touch of attitude. I think she took Jamie Foxx's testimony advice to heart.
Her performance did not disappoint her fans. Crystal picked up the tempo of the song and gave it more of an attitude. She changed the range so that it suited her unique voice and style.
What the Judges said about Crystal Bowersox's "I'm Alright" Performance
Randy Jackson: Randy said that it wasn't one of his favorite performances, but she tried to switch it up and make the song more interesting.
Ellen DeGeneres: Ellen said that her performance just got "Crystallized". She thought that Crystal took the song and made it better.
Kara DioGuardi: Kara agreed with Ellen and ended by saying, "Artist, artist, artist."
Simon Cowell: Didn't even want to know what "Caddy Shack" was all about after the "Free Willy" fiasco. He finished by saying that Crystal was back in the game.
Crystal Bowersox did the groundhog in "Caddy Shack" proud. I could picture the little dude dancing to her performance. Crystal was the best performer of the night. She picked the best song and adjusted it to better suit her style.

Post a Commentnot really a watcher, but well deserved PL your way!
I was rooting so much for Crystal at this point but now Lee has me feeling ambivalent.
I want her to win!
Thanks for the update!
Crystal rocks!!
I was worried when I heard her song choice, I mean "Who would choose that?!" But, she did a wonderful job with it, I was really impressed, and actually enjoyed it :) cheers!
I have the sinking feeling that Crystal will lose though because everyone assumes she will become a big star anyway. I hope that is true either way.
