Crystal Bowersox Sings "People Get Ready" by the Impressions

On American Idol's theme for the April 20^th, 2010 show was "Songs of Inspiration". Crystal Bowersox chose to sing "People Get Ready" by The Impressions. Crystal chose the song because it is one of her favorites and she is really grateful for everything in her life right now.

American Idol Mentor: Advice from Alicia Keys to Crystal Bowersox

Alicia Keys was the mentor this week on American Idol. Since this week is Idol Gives Back week Alicia was the perfect fit for the "Songs of Inspiration Theme". Alicia Keys has been a champion for HIV/AIDS victims in Africa.

Alicia said that "People Get Ready" has so much emotion and passion and that Crystal must deliver it and focus on that passion. Crystal said that she is just going to sing the song, put her heart into it and give the best performance she can.

Crystal Bowersox's "People Get Ready" Performance

Crystal was on the stage without her guitar tonight. She was dressed in a low cut, nave blue gown and she looked beautiful. She sang with back-up singers, a string orchestra, and her unique microphone stand.

Crystal started out singing a cappella with a gospel spin on "People Get Ready". She added the orchestra and back-up singers but by then the audience was already hooked.

Crystal was brimming with emotion and it came out in her performance. She was pitchy on just one high note but I'm positive that will be overlooked by everyone. By the end of the song she was in tears. If anyone connected with a song of inspiration, Crystal did.

What the Judges said about Crystal Bowersox's "People Get Ready" Performance

Randy Jackson: Said it was unbelievable and gave Crystal a standing 'O'.

Ellen DeGeneres: Said that Crystal never looked better.

Kara DioGuardi: Said that Crystal took her performance to another level. They call Crystal Mommasox because she just schooled all the other contestants.

Simon Cowell: Said Crystal's performance was inspirations. He was happy to see the emotion in her. He thought the song was sung fantastically and she is a completely different class from everyone else.

Crystal Bowersox explained the reason for her tears at the end of her performance. She said that she saw her dad in the audience and she was thanking the Lord as she was singing those exact words.

Crystal gave a rare performance on American Idol. Fans got to see into her soul through her music. She showed how much this contest and everything in her life means. Thank you for sharing that Crystal, it was awesome!
