Crystal Clear Thinking

Jeanne Sparks-Carreker
I've been a while without you now
And can finally stretch my thoughts.
They flow over the city and throughout
This land, obeying tight boundary.
You rarely enter my mind at all,
But if you do, I never feel caught -
See, the only way I ever finished with you
Was being tired of being sick and angry.

So I toast not to your great success,
Or apparent happiness.
I toast not to your long lived life,
Though there is no vindictiveness.
I will not toast to you finding joy
As I send you riding off hot as the sun.
I will not toast another into slavery or
Hope another addict's death has begun.

Beauty does not always come with a name
That intrigues or draws much interest.
Beauty is not always skin deep
When you're dealing with zombies and emptiness.
What in fact is a rose is the plant God created
That we cannot in spirit duplicate.
What in fact fills my thoughts as I talk about you
Is just another something that can wait.
