Crystal Healing: Tiger's Eye

Yvonne M. Glasgow, Ph.D.
Tiger's Eye got its name because of the fact that its stripes and reflective properties make it resemble that of a feline eye. There is also a variation of this same crystal where the line looks more like an orb and is then called a 'Hawk's Eye'. It is this resemblance to an eye that may also be part of the reason that it is used as a psychic stone, and is thus placed at the third eye. Color-wise, it is considered a yellow crystal and is a member of the quartz family.

Magically, Tiger's Eye has been used as a talisman to ward off curses. It is also a good stone for use in protection against the evil eye. For mental clarity Tiger's Eye can be used for collecting jumbled information within the mind and straightening it out. It can also be used to heal mental disorders and personality disorders.

Tiger's Eye is a balancing crystal- working with both Yin and Yang energies. It can help to open up blocked creativity and mental vision. Wear Tiger's Eye for short periods for best results. It can be used for spiritual grounding and balancing by placing it on the navel chakra, solar plexus.

Tiger's Eye comes in a blue variety which is used more for calming and can help to relieve stress. It comes in a gold variety that works well when dealing with the emotions. And it also comes in a red variety that aides in motivation and can be used to speed up a slow metabolism, perfect for the dieter.

This crystal is often referred to as a "feel better stone". It can be used to help with night vision problems, throat issues and even the reproductive organs. Tiger's Eye can also be helpful in the aide of healing broken bones. And because of its chakra position, the solar plexus, it can help with digestion problems, including gas, nausea and even diarrhea.

Hawk's Eye can be used to attract wealth by placing it in the corner of a room. It also has healing abilities that include improvement in the circulatory system and bowels. It can also help with a stiff neck!
