Crystal Light Pure Review

Amy Brantley
I'm proud of say that I gave up drinking pop about 4 months ago. I have to admit though that it hasn't been easy and at times plain water can get pretty boring. I used to drink Crystal Light quite often, but then I gave up aspartame. While looking for something new to drink, I came across Crystal Light Pure, which is sweetened with sugar and Truvia. I had heard good things about Truvia and was pleased that it was a natural sweetener. I decided to give the drink a try, even though I was concerned about how it would taste.

Crystal Light Pure comes in several different flavors including, Tropical Blend, Grape, Strawberry Kiwi, Lemonade and Mixed Berry. I decided to try the Tropical Blend flavor even though I was quite concerned that citric and malic acid were listed so close to the top of the ingredient's list.

The flavor of Crystal Lite Pure Tropical Blend is a bit tart due to the high amount of acid in the drink mix, but it's a delicious flavor. More importantly, there is no aftertaste from the Truvia. In fact, this drink mix reminds me a lot of drinks I used to enjoy as a child. I wouldn't say it's like Kool-Aid, but it certainly reminds me of something in my childhood. Either way, it's delicious.

You may be worried about calories and carbohydrates since Crystal Light Pure contains real sugar, but don't be. A package of the Tropical Blend mix contains only 15 calories, 0 grams of fat, 15mg of sodium, 4 grams of carbohydrates, 4 grams of sugar and 0 grams of protein. For my fellow Weight Watchers members that's a PointsPlus value of 0.

I would have to give this product 4 out of 5 stars. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is the price for this product is a bit steep. A box of 7 mix packages, on sale, was $3. In my opinion, that's a bit high. Otherwise, this product is perfect. There's no icky aftertaste, it's low in calories and it tastes great. I highly recommend this product if you're looking for a low calorie beverage that doesn't contain artificial sweeteners.

I'll have to give this a try. I have drunk Crystal Light in the past but not for a couple of years now. Good review, Amy.
