Crystal Ray: 20 Million Page Views and Counting

Han Van Meegerin
Even if I am not the first reporter to cover this story, I believe this announcement is worthy of another mention. Today, October 25, 2010 marks only the second time in Associated Content from Yahoo! history that a Contributor passed 20 million page views. Though R.Ann Siper became the first Contributor to achieve this milestone several days ago on October 22, 2010, Crystal Ray's star is the one shining brightly today.

Associated Content from Yahoo! advertises that to date over 400,000 individuals have published online using their publishing platform. Since Crystal Ray is one of two people out of 400,000 to achieve an accomplishment of this magnitude, she clearly is doing something exceptional.

If one analyzes Crystal Ray's career as an Associated Content from Yahoo! Contributor, it is clear that she embodies the Associated Content from Yahoo! opportunity for success. When I nominated her for the 2009 Associated Content PMA of the Year Award, I referred to her as the face of Associated Content. Deservingly she won that award and today she punctuates that statement like the exclamation point that tails the Company name Yahoo!.

Crystal Ray started publishing on Associated Content in July of 2005. Somewhere between month number 32 and 33 (2 years and 6/7 months) of her career she reached 4 million page views.

On May 19, 2009 Crystal Ray became the second Associated Content from Yahoo! Contributor to pass 10 million page views. This came at 47 months (3 years and 11 months) into her career. She accomplished this with 1571 publications.

Today, October 25 2010, Crystal Ray's reached 20,006,485 page views on 2494 publications. This comes at 64 months (5 years and 4 months) into her career.

When it comes to page views, from a Contributor's point of view, this friends is what Associated Content from Yahoo! is all about. One can clearly see the compounding affect on page views if a Contributor consistently publishes work that is easily found on the search engines. This in the business is called Search Engine Optimized Content.

I know there is a segment of the population that does not understand or appreciate this type of work. They devalue both the author and the work. They say that the work is the product of content mills and the authors are not real writers. Yes, it is true that not all web content is perfect. However, when it comes to Crystal Ray and her work on Associated Content from Yahoo! I say, If that ain't content you can kiss my ass and if you don't like Crystal Ray you can also kiss my ass!

When Crystal Ray reached 10 million page views she allowed me to interview her. She again has graciously allowed me the same opportunity now that she has passed 20 million page views. I hope you will all turn your attention to that piece once it becomes available.

Crystal is utterly amazing and one of the kindest, sweetest human beings on the face of the earth. I adore her. She deserves every page view she has and twice that too. She's a great writer and an even better friend.

Crystal Ray has always been an inspiration to me. I was so awed by her that I had to interview her and she was gracious enough to allow me to do that. She still inspires me. She's creative and hard working and she has managed to find balance in her life. I wish I could work the way she does.

WOW! Crystal is amazing. I'm awed by the number of articles she writes every week. And, even though she is so busy writing, she still manages time to comment & PM others. Doing the happy dance for all of her accomplishments here on AC!! :)
