"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" - "Bump and Grind" Twists and Turns

Sally Ann Murphy
You probably watch "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" because you love the twists and turns the plots often take, but admit it - you needed a flow chart for this episode. For those of you who didn't have one for "Bump and Grind", please try to follow along below:

The victim is identified from the credit card remains that were found in his stomach. His name is Larry, and Greg has seen him on TV marketing his identify protection company. But - the Larry on TV isn't Larry, it's the guy from the identify protection company's mail room.

Then Julius, Larry's head of security at his identity protection company, turns up dead, killed by a gun that was used to shoot Some Guy years ago. You find out Larry sent Julius to kill Some Guy all those years ago, but it turns out he didn't die, and in fact, Some Guy is the real Larry. The real Larry was attempting to blackmail the false Larry, whose name is Arlo, and it turns out Arlo and the real Larry were once partners. Still following?

So who killed Larry? Fake Larry-Arlo? Hit man Julius? But who killed Julius? Well, it turns out Fake Larry-Arlo's assistant, the lovely Elaine, and Julius killed the real Larry so they could keep the blackmail money Fake Larry-Arlo was going to pay him ($5 million, no less.) And then Elaine killed Julius so she could keep the money herself.

Whew. And that doesn't even include the fact that the body was found in a shredder, or that both Julius and Some Other Guy who had his identity stolen by Fake Larry-Arlo's company both had connections to the shredder company. Or that Elaine tried to frame poor Some Other Guy who had his identity stolen for Julius's murder. This is how they catch her - a photo from the crime scene picked up a partial license plate, which the CSI team traced to a rental car, which Elaine had rented in Some Other Guy's name and was driving to the border with her $5 million.

And did you catch that kidney bean the serial killer sent Langston? There is a nice exchange between Sara and Langston, when she tells him the things that happen to you don't have to define who you are.

Otherwise, this is a great CSI episode, with lots of gross touches (ear soup, anyone?), lots of bad shredder jokes, and Sara smelling really bad again. And Greg having his identity stolen at the end of the episode is a nice touch, too.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" airs on CBS on Thursday nights at 9 PM ET.
