CSI- Gil and Sarah, Revealed? Nope, Just Glossed Over

Inter-office relationships are often frowned upon in the work place. Their relationship is in direct violation of lab policy and of course, that has to be brought to an end! No doubt, much to the delight of the head of the department. And just who, in the team, knew about the relationship?

But of course, it wouldn't be a CSI episode without a dead body or two. Or in this case a head still trapped in a football helmet that bounces along the highway in a gruesome and spectacular manner, even ricocheting off the bottom of an eighteen wheeler before it rolls to the feet of a member of a clean up team long the edge of the highway. - but where is the rest of his body?

Sure, Gil should be answering the questions of his head of department, but what's a little inquiry into improper behavior when compared to a dead body err head and a trail of blood?

And then there is a murder in a restaurant. No big deal right? Except the murder took place at a restaurant called Blind. Where you eat in the dark and all the waiters are blind. The latest craze, at least as far as this episode is concerned. Personally that would drive me nuts. Can you just imagine how many glasses of wine the patrons would spill?

All right there are plenty of naughty little liaisons that could take place there. And there is a direct link between food and sex. The restaurant is sold to customers as a sensual, erotic experience and I can, to a degree, see how that would work. The food scene in 91/2 weeks springs instantly to mind.

And the victim for this second death? The founder of a Hustler type magazine. Fictional of course. Stabbed to the temple. But in the dark could anyone there be a reliable witness? Considering that many a blind man and woman relies on their other senses including scent and hearing, it might be surprising just what they might be able to reveal to the Catherine's team.

Storyline aside, there are multiple rumors that the relationship between Sarah and Gil is being used as a way to slowly ease Sarah out of the show. Jorja Fox has been in several disputes with producers over her wages for CSI and after yet another dispute it looks as though, unless things change dramatically, she will be leaving the show in November. Her final show is rumored to be "Hello, Goodbye" Set to air on November 9th, but with the fans working on a campaign to keep her in the show, down to sending in money to CSI Producers in order to pay Fox the money she is asking. Details over just what sort of money she is asking for are sketchy.

As for the relationship between Sarah and Gil. Well, Jorja had this to say to TV Guide. "CSI producers have said that their story would conclude this season, but Jorja Fox doesn't exactly agree. She said, "I can't contradict what one of our producers said, but I can only tell you from my experience, I don't think you're going to get that. This might sound vain, but the story of Sara and Grissom is a little like a fable. And most great fables don't really have 100 percent resolution."

It sounds as though her departure is a done deal, but she's been fired once before from the show only to be rehired in 2004.

I was honestly a little disappointed by this episode. It failed to grab me. One murder was far too light hearted with the entire situation in the restaurant and the various people in there. And the other downplayed far too much. With what was going on with Gil and Sarah the episode would have been better if it had focused on one murder this time, and not bounce back and forth between the two.

Although the restaurant murder turned out to be a fantastic end to a lovers quarrel, the build up was almost too light hearted and the dramatic twist of a blind waiter being the murderer didn't work, for me, against that background.

The second murder, with the headless corpse, the drag racing in go-carts, was down played. They had a perfect set up with the dead boy being left in the car of his crippled older brother and the accidental death from a blown tire of an eighteen wheeler, but it just wasn't played out to the extent it could have been.

Sorry, CSI, you blew this episode for me. I wanted more about the inquiry into Sarah and Gil. Her recovery from the events with the Miniature killer, and that didn't happen. After the emotional build up of last weeks episode this one was a real let down. I'm disappointed in how poorly the transition was handled and can only hope CSI picks up next week.
