As we last saw, Mr. Wolfe (Jonathan Togo) was fired and Horatio (David Caruso) has let him come back. What was this all about and how will he prove himself to his team now that he is back? You may remember he was fired for giving money to a suspect in a murder case. He had a gambling debt and paid it to the suspect and it was caught on tape. Now he has to have a part time job since his checks are being monitored for gambling activity and he is seeing a counselor.

The season six opener starts with a big surprise. Hostage situations, murder and Horatio has a son that may be a suspect in the murder.

A man is holding a probation officer hostage in his home. Shots are fired and SWAT is ready to move. A body comes crashing out a window, the probation officer is dead and the suspect escapes out the back door. Hopped into a boat and sped away from the scene.

The scene has a heel print and DNA under the victim's fingernails. The first one to be questioned is Dillon. Dillon and the daughter of the probation officer were caught together in her bedroom. A fight ensued and he said he left. The daughter Stephanie wants to know if she was responsible for her dad being killed.

The blackberry shows a violation of probation by Kyle Harmon. He is sixteen and good with boats. The probation officer got the message and now he is dead. Horatio wants to know when Kyle was born. He knows he has been in foster homes his entire life.

Kyle has a job at a café that the boat was stolen from. Horatio talks with Rick another probation client of the probation officer that works at the café and he denies any wrongdoing. Who stole the boat and killed the PO?

Kyle's mother was a nurse in the military and her name was Julia. The father named on the birth certificate was John. Horatio knows the father's name. Things are starting to come together. Kyle lived with a foster dad was an undesirable role model, he was in it for the money.

A kidnapping of a correctional officer's wife and a ransom. Horatio recognizes Kyle's voice and tells him to give it up. They need to find Kyle quick. Kyle kept apologizing to the woman he kidnapped after asking for a certain sum of money. The sum of money has Horatio concerned since it was exact to the dollar.

Kyle runs leaving the woman behind before Horatio arrives leaving his monitor behind as well. The correction officer is corrupt and was holding onto Rick's drug money until he was out of jail. As you remember, Rick works at the café with Kyle.

They found a fingerprint on one of the shell casings belonging to none other than Mr. Wolfe. This happened because his new job at the firing range requires him to load all gun magazines. He identifies Rick as the practicing shooter.

Rick blackmailed Kyle into kidnapping the woman. Horatio now wants a DNA sample tested against his own from Kyle. The verdict is in Horatio is a dad. Kyle's mother disappeared a few months after her and Horatio met. He never knew he had a son.

Kyle is now running from the Coast Guard in a boat, can Horatio make it there in time to save his son. Horatio asks the Coast Guard to stand down, please stand down and they do as he asks.

Kyle is safe on land and Horatio does not tell Kyle he is son.
