CSI Miami: Season Opener Review (09/09)

Well, it's that time again, fall season openers. A big one was CSI:Miami. The episode began with hints of last season's closer when Delco got shot driving the car in which he helped his father escape. He was rushed to the emergency room from the scene. Upon arriving to the hospital, Alex takes control and whisks Delco away. This episode gave us a flashback view of how the team came together back in 1997.

Horatio meets Delco when Delco, a tow truck driver hauls a vehicle out from a swamp and discovers a dead body inside. An inquisitive Delco asks Horatio questions about procedures and offers advice and helps recover evidence. An instant friendship ensues.

Calliegh is a rookie tool marks and ballistics expert who is new on the job but brings new techniques and statistics with her. She challenges her new boss and to Horatio's liking becomes one of the new CSI members.

As Delco, fights for his life Horatio and Calliegh wait by his side waiting for any hope of recovery. Alex comforts Calliegh but does not offer any encouraging words as they contemplate the worst.

The team comes together as they each work on different aspects of a homicide involving a young woman. The usual suspect list is addressed, the husband, the gardener. This is seemingly very predictable.

All in all, there was not as much punch or action as previous openers. I also thought the explanation of where Horatio acquired his trademark sunglasses was weak. They also, should have showed a little more of Delco's crisis.

I grade this episode a C+
