Cupcake Liner Flower Craft for Children

Laura Blair
Flowers are a popular Valentine's Day gift, so what better craft to make with your child than cupcake liner flowers. Cupcake liners are available in a variety of colors and patterns, and you can find them at craft stores, dollar stores and most large grocery superstore chains.

This easy craft is for children age 3 and up. A preschool child ages 3 to 5 will be able to assist with the gluing only; older children will have the strength to use the stapler.

For each flower, you'll need one paper doily, one cupcake liner, one green pipe cleaner, two 1 ½ or 2 inch circles cut from heavy cardstock, a stapler and a glue stick.

First, flatten the cupcake liner, patterned side up, and tear five slits from the outer edge towards the center, ending where the ridges on the liner end. These slits form petals on the flower, and help it to lay flat.

Second, assemble your flower by sandwiching one cardstock circle between the doily on the bottom and the cupcake liner on the top.

Third, bend the pipe cleaner into a ½-inch tall U shape at one end. Staple the U to the back of the doily, cardstock circle and cupcake liner stack.

Fourth, glue the second cardstock circle to the front center of the cupcake liner to hide the staples.
