Cupid Delayed Due to Valentine's Day Snowstorm

Valentine's Day Snow Storm Creates Havoc for Floral Deliveries and Shoppers

Joyce Williams
New Hampshire sweethearts sending flowers to their valentines may be in hot water tonight. Flowers delivery trucks have been able to make few deliveries today due to heavy snow fall and blizzard conditions throughout the state. Some doubt if they will be able to deliver the flowers tomorrow since icy road conditions due to freezing temperatures are expected.

Most school closing were announced late yesterday afternoon in anticipation of the storm. None of NH schools are opened today. Near freezing temperatures mean light fluffy snow, depriving NH children of the good snowman building snow. The best advice is to stay indoors. 10 counties are now under advisories, watches, or severe weather warnings. There are 663 closing and delays throughout the state.

Snow is falling in some areas at the rate of 2 inches an hour. New England is expected to receive 15-30. The snow has brought skiers into NH. Cars with skis and ski racks are traveling on NH highways. Good news for the ski resorts that have had a rough start to ski season with warm weather earlier this winter. Also good news for independent snow plow operators.

The Valentine's day blizzard has affected New York State, All of Vermont, Maine, NH and Massachusetts. High winds, freezing temperatures, and heavy snow conditions are expected throughout the day and evening.
