Cupid the Valentine Angel

Cupid was Also Considered a Powerful God

Cupid is the Roman god who represents love. He is also known as Amore. Mischievous and depicted with a bow and arrows to spare, Cupid had great power, and could make anyone fall in love.

Before authors embraced the Hellenistic version of the god of love, he was known from an earlier time as Eros. At that time, he was depicted as more of a primal entity.

Cupid's parents were Venus and Mars.

In an astrology chart comparison for compatibility, Venus and Mars are astrological factors known to be the most magnetic combination between two people. Highly laden in sexual attraction, experiencing a liaison such as this is rare.

Some people may never have this experience in a lifetime.

Even when someone may encounter this electrical and indescribable attraction, there may be other hindrances that keep such a relationship from coming to fruition. Part of Cupid's mischief?

Cupid was responsible for causing Zeus (Jupiter) to fall in love, as well as Apollo and many other mythological figureheads.

The son of Zeus, Apollo, was powerful. Cupid could heal, and was known as the god of light. Pictured as perfectly masculine with a great build, he is represented by the Sun.

Another planetary combination resulting in compatibility and love is found in conjunct or trine aspects between the Moonsigns. When moonsigns are related or in the seventh house (Libra's house), the natives will have emotional understanding.

Usually a good Moon sign combination means that each individual will also like and enjoy the same friends.

When the above combinations are combined with the Sun, a potential for a stable, long-term friendship exists. Accompanied with Venus aspects, the Sun - Sun combination would contribute to harmony and a long-term relationship.

Just as love is often illusive, taking many forms, so is Cupid. If his dart comes your way, it can sting or bring ecstasy, or both. The planets and the mythological gods often move in mysterious paths, but when Cupid's arrow makes its mark, you really won't know what the Universe has in store for you.

In today's society Cupid has been degraded into a cutesy marketing symbol. It is nice to remind everyone his place in history and legend. Nice piece!
