Here's what you need to make you Cupid's Candy Arrow...
~ An empty cardboard tube from inside a roll of paper towels
~ A 11 inch by 6 inch piece of wrapping paper, construction paper, or tissue paper
~ A piece of red construction paper approximately 4 inches by 10 inches
~ String or ribbon
~ Tape or glue
~ Small candies
Start by measuring your paper towel tube. Using that number as the length, and 5 inches as the width, cut a rectangle from the 11 inch by 5 inch piece of wrapping paper, construction paper, or tissue paper. Using the tape or glue, wrap your paper around the paper towel tube, so that none of the cardboard color shows, and approximately two inches are hanging over at each end. Twist one end closed and tie with string or ribbon.
In the other end, pour your small candies into the tube. (If you candies are unwrapped, such as M&Ms, you may want to put them into a sandwich baggie first, so they won't spill when the tube is opened later.) Tie the second end closed with your string or ribbon.
From your red construction paper, cut a half-circle about three inches in diameter. Curl it around to form a cone shape. This will be the arrow's point. Tape or glue the point over one end of the tube, hiding one of the tied ends. From the remaining red construction paper, cut fins for the back end of your Cupid's Candy Arrow. Tape or glue the fins in place.
If you're using glue, it needs a chance to dry, so the point and fins don't fall off. Set your Cupid's Candy Arrow on a stack of narrow books, or something similarly shaped, so the point and fins can dry without getting bumped.
You can further decorate your Cupid's Candy Arrow by adding stickers or glitter to the tube, or personalize it with your sweetheart's name. You can also make a mini version, using toilet paper tubes, (or cutting paper towel tubes to make shorter arrows.) The minis make cute table place cards for your Valentine's Day get-together!
A Cupid's Candy Arrow is a delicious gift on its own, but can also enhance your other Valentine's Day ideas. Try using one as a gift box topper, in place of a bow, or give your sweetheart a teddy bear holding a Cupid's Candy Arrow!
Happy Valentine's Day! Have a sweet holiday!!
