Cups and Watches

1. About a watch

I had a watch. It was a very nice "Timex" watch. I bought it for $20 and it served me faithfully for several years.

My new girlfriend did not like my "Timex" watch. She said it was unbecoming for me, and she bought me a "Swatch." Later I broke up with my girlfriend, and the "Swatch" broke on its own accord. I tried to get it repaired, but it broke again, and I had to manage without a watch for a while.

I decided to buy a new watch. But my fiancée said that she would present one to me on our wedding day. The wedding day never came, and hence I still had not had a watch.

I decided to buy a new watch, but my farther wanted to come to Israel for a visit, and promised to bring me a watch as a present. The war in Gaza started, and I told my father to postpone his trip. Although it has been a year since, he hasn't gathered to come yet, but I know that he has already bought a watch for me.

I still don't have a watch.

2. About a cup

I had a small cup. It was really a coffee-cup, not a tea-cup. Therefore I had to fill it twice in order to have my regular fill of tea.

Once I was presented a bigger cup at a conference, and I thought: "Finally I have a good tea-cup!" A new post-doc came, and I gave him my new tea-cup, because I had two, and the new one was yet unused.

I still had to fill my small coffee-cup twice in order to get my full share of tea. Finally, I bought for myself a bigger cup.

A few weeks later my friend borrowed from me the cup, because she borrowed her cup to a friend who was visiting for a week. I gave her the big cup, because it was almost unused.

My friend is very shy - every day she asked me whether she may keep the cup for one more day, even though I knew from the very beginning that she had borrowed it for the whole week.

On the third day she dropped the cup, and the cup broke to small pieces.

Today I bought a new cup.
