Larry David will return to the silver screen for an eighth season of the successful HBO comedy, Curb Your Enthusiasm, on Sunday, July 10, at 10 p.m. ET.

The deadpan-humored series is the longest-running scripted show on the network, and David, who plays a version of himself on the show, embraces its longevity.

"In a way you are competing with yourself...always in competition with the previous series," the Seinfeld co-creator said . "And that's good. It keeps you on your toes."

The series will begin with a divorced David getting himself in all types of ridiculous situations, one of which pushes him to temporarily move from Los Angeles to New York City.

David, though, confirms that he is not his television character. "I'm just trying to make the fictional David funny, but I will say that the real Larry is an extremely nice guy. You can ask anyone."

According to the Toronto Sun , guest appearances this season will include Ricky Gervais, Michael J. Fox, Ana Gasteyer, Robert Smigel, Mookie Wilson and Bill Buckner.
