The main effects from acne are scarring, but sometimes the worst effect is psychological, especially in teenagers. Many teens are already socially insecure and when they have acne it can lead to depression and even suicide. I can remember the trauma in our home over it, but luckily my wife knew how to fix it so it turned out well.
Most all of the cures on the market both natural and medicinal concern the skin. This is usually the first step in fighting acne and after you clear it up you need to figure out how to cure the cause of it. There are dozens of natural treatments for clearing up the skin. Many different fruit and vegetables are used to cure acne such as tomato pulp, lemon juice, potatoes, cucumbers, fresh garlic, etc. More cures include cumin seeds, basil leaves, honey and cinnamon, turmeric, etc.
Other items used as cures include rose water, lavender oil, tea tree oil and aloe vera. We grew aloe vera in the backyard and my wife used it to cure everything. When it was mixed with a little tea tree oil it did a great job curing my daughter's acne.
A place to start curing the cause of acne is with a healthy diet. Eat mostly unprocessed foods with a large part of your diet being fruit and vegetables, especially raw ones as fiber is an important part of an acne diet. Try to drink 8 glasses of water a day to flush toxins out of the body.
Several different vitamins are very important in the prevention of acne. Vitamin A can prevent acne by reducing sebum production. It is also necessary to maintain and repair the tissue of the skin and can also help rid the body of toxins. A deficiency of it can cause acne. Vitamin A is found in carrots, broccoli, cabbage, apples bananas, berries and many other fruits and vegetables. Vitamin B6 is another one that should be taken and it can be found in many of the same fruits and vegetables as Vitamin A.
Zinc is an element that is recommended as it is an antibacterial agent. A low zinc diet could actually cause acne. Zinc is found in almost all fruits and vegetable with these having significant amounts: blackberries, kiwi fruit, peas, corn and sweet potatoes along with others.
Chromium is excellent for healing infections on the skin. Its present in many fruits and vegetables but you may have to take a supplement to make sure you are getting enough.
Foods to avoid include refined sugar, meats, poultry, sugar, strong tea or coffee, condiments, pickles, nut butters, soft drinks, candies, fried foods, refined and processed foods along with milk products and hydrogenated vegetable oil to name a few.
Lifestyle changes should include not wearing makeup or if it's necessary make sure its water based. Do not pick, squeeze, rub or touch your blackheads and pimples as you may cause infection to spread under your skin. Wash your pillow case every other day as it absorbs oil from your skin. Clean your face thoroughly to remove dirt, dead skin cells and bacteria to keep them from clogging your pores.
Exercise will increase blood circulation and take oxygen to all the cells in the body plus the sweating will help eliminate toxins. Quit smoking to stop Vitamin C being destroyed along with damage to skin tissue. Give up alcohol to stop the expansion of blood vessel which cause red spots and makes the skin itch. Use sun block when outdoors to protect your skin from further damage. Last but not least get plenty of rest as stress could help promote an acne attack.
