"Lotions" in this baseball household are mine and mine only: they have a "girly" scent, might have a little self-tanning in them, and almost always have some of those sparkly highlights.
Our big blue bottle of Curel is different. It's medicine. There's one bottle in the bathroom and the other in the "baseball bag" that carried in the trunk with bandages, blankets, pain relievers, ace wraps, extra sweatshirts, packets of crackers and an energy drink or two.
This medicine called Curel is for treatment of dry, cracked winter skin when college baseball practice starts in January. It's carried in the trunk in the baseball bag for the cold and wind-burn of double-headers after the season starts in the middle of February. It's dabbed on the tips of noses after you finally catch the cold that everyone is seeming to share. It's what we use when an unexpectedly sunny Saturday in March gives a little sunburn on top of the windburn. And it's used every April when we can temporarily show some skin and it's time to try and get my winter feet in shape for summer sandals.
It's what Mr. Baseball means when he asks, "Where's the lotion?"
