Obviously if you can avoid a hangover then try to do so. Tips to avoiding the hangover all together are:
- Drink a half cup of water for every alcoholic beverage you drink.
- If you are able bodied enough then right before bed take two Tylenol with a small cup of water.
- Stay up until you are sober again, this will almost insure that you will not suffer a hangover the next day.
Those are all things I do now because I have learned from my own New Year's hangover experience that if you can avoid going through a hangover altogether then you will be the better for it.
If you find yourself in the predicament of having to go through a hangover even after the advice I just told you than there are some ways to cure your headaches and your stomach pains with food.
For the serious stomach pained hangover:
- Saltines
- Ginger Ale, Seven UP or Sprite
- Bread
- Something to spread on the bread
- Orange Juice
- Water
First make sure you are done throwing up before you put anything else in to your body. Once you are sure you are not going to be getting sick anymore have four ounces of just water, plain old water. Give yourself five minutes and make sure you can hold that down. If so then get yourself a cup of ginger-ale, or seven-up or any one of the citrus flavored sodas will do. Also get plain crackers, saltines work best and eat about five or six of them. If after an hour of slow sips and small bites you feel better then make yourself one piece of toast with anything on it, peanut butter, jelly, or cinnamon sugar and a cup of orange juice. By the time you have finished all that you should not be suffering any stomach pains anymore.
For the severe headache hangover:
- Two Tylenol
- Gatorade
- One pickle
- One Apple
- Water
First things first when you have a headache hangover you will want to tread carefully every single noise seems as if it will blow up your brain, it won't but just knowing that won't help the pain go away. You need to re-hydrate your body you are dehydrated and that is why the pounding headache. Start off with one eight ounce cup of water and two Tylenol; then after a moment get out one pickle, one apple and a bottle of Gatorade. The reason for such an odd combination is to re-hydrate. Both pickles and apples have juice in them which will start you on the recovery to hydration and Gatorade is loaded with electrolytes that your body needs in order to get rid of that headache and back to shape and make you feel better again.
For The Average Hangover:
- Two Tylenol
- Apple Or Orange Juice
- Banana
- Two Pieces Of Bread
- Honey
- Strawberry Jam
- Water
Once again when you wake up with a hangover first thing you should do is pop two Tylenol with a cup of four-eight ounces of water. Then take your two pieces of bread white or wheat it does not matter. Spread honey on one piece and strawberry jam on the other slice then take the banana and slice into thin pieces and spread out onto one of the bread slices then put your sandwich together and eat. Once done pour yourself a cup of juice and get some vitamin c back into your system. I don't know why this works but it does, there is something in honey that seems to make everything better. Also the banana adds magnesium that helps cure the headache; the bread will soak up any alcohol still in your stomach and the jam is for the extra added flavor. This will help to cure most hangovers.
Avoid caffeine while hungover because it will dehydrate you even more. Also avoid drinking to cure your hangover, not only are you dehydrating yourself more but that is the way to a lifetime of alcoholism, never ever drink to make you feel better.
Hopefully you won't need a cure for a hangover on New Year's day but if you do these tips should help you on your way to recovery.
