When designing a room fit for a princess, many parents want a unique look. There are many inexpensive ways of accomplishing the girl's bedroom of your dreams! Let's explore a few bedroom themes and creative window treatments to adorn them. Choose a theme and get started. The ideas will come as you play off of these suggestions.

1) Princesses Royal Room

In a room designed for royalty, think sheers for window treatments. You can hot glue little crowns, hearts, and tiaras. This can create a beautiful, personalized look on the cheap. A very cute idea to hang such curtains is to use a "scepter" instead of a standard curtain rod. You can make your own with a decorative curtain rod, a can of pink spray paint, some sequins, and other decorative items. These can be purchased very cheaply at craft stores and flea markets. You can use bendable cheap tiaras as precious tie backs.

2) Fairy Tale Cottage

There are so many adorable things to be done with this type of theme. You can have very unique window treatments by skipping curtains all together. You can purchase white wooden blinds and add painted outdoor shutters on the inside of the windows. This looks so amazing! If you want to really go all out, you can add a faux window box garden. By adding some fake moss, and dollar store flowers to a Styrofoam form, you can have the cutest cottage look.

3) Shabby Chic Getaway

For a relaxing retreat, you have several options of achieving the vintage look. If you have low enough windows, you can simply place a quilt holder above the window and pin the bottom of the quilt to the wall sides. This looks cute even with quilts that do not match, but are in the same color scheme. This also works by using mismatched curtains on different windows. You can continue this them with a coordinating slip cover for a chair. Roman shades in a Victorian print look precious in a room designed for a little lady.

4) Ballerina girl

Whether you have a serious dancer, or a child who is fascinated by them, this room is a little girl's fantasy come true. By hanging pink tulle in place of curtains you can give them a look inspired by a tutu. You can find used Ballet shoes at yard sales, throw them in the wash, and use them as tie backs. You can also hang darker pink tulle curtains by light pink ribbons at the top. This really adds to the look. To tie this room together, you can install a barre. This are just mountable metal bars. If you have hardwood floors, you can make it a functional space for your little dancer to practice.

5) Additional ideas

If you are sticking with a more traditional room, and would prefer not to have a theme, you could have simple curtains monogrammed to personalize them for your daughter without being over the top. These can later be sewn together for a personalized blanket or pillow for them to take to college or their new home after they leave yours. This is a lovely reminder of their childhood room.

Another idea is to keep the rest of the room simple and allow them to pick store made curtains to coincide with the latest movie craze. This is an inexpensive way to give in to the latest trend with an easily replaceable part of the bedroom.

If your daughter is into sports, dance, or another activity, it is also cute to boost their self esteem by hanging their jersey or costume over a set of coordinating blinds. This gives them a feeling of importance. Identity can be hard to come by as a little girl, and it is wonderful if they can be defined by what they do, and not how they look. Right?

When planning the design for your little girl's bedroom, make sure to include one vital element....... her. This should be the place she always wanted, a space for her to find comfort from the world. When feeling tempted to sway her one way or the other, remember that you have your own bedroom to fulfill your designing fantasies. This can be a wonderful collaboration of generations. Have fun, be creative and let all of your friends think that you paid an arm and a leg for this picturesque room.
