Curves Offers Key to Healthier Lifestyle

Associated content business writer Sabah Karimi takes us around the curveway as she puts the Franchise Spotlight Curves For Women: Weight Management and Fitness Take on a New Dimension in a safe comfortable environment.
I had received a 5.5"x8" shades of pink and white card in the mail VOLUNTEERS WANTED! Curves Needs 50 Volunteers to Participate in a 21-Day Fitness Study! the Volunteer Requirements: "Must be between the ages of 18-75. Not currently exercising on a regular basis. Will complete a supervised 21-day training program with moderate exercise 30-minutes three times a week."

Initially I was skeptical about the research project aspect of this mailer, this was a very clever sales-pitch to get women to come into the Curves center at the local mall. But the 21 day study comprises only nine 30 minute visits (calculated after reading Ms. Karimi's article) and the price is right, free. Of course, you and I know that a sales pitch to sign-up for a longer period of time comes at the last session.

If the Curves program can show substantial results at the end of such a short time period, that's great, and it would be worth considering signing-up.

The Curves franchise that mailed me the Volunteers Wanted card is located in an entertainment oriented shopping mall; there is tempation all the way back to the member's SUVs in the parkinglot. There are coffee and sandwich shops with outdoor tables that offer a great selection of calorie laden diet busters.

Curves has a Weight Management Plan offered in small classes that inform women about nutrition, advises a healthy plan based on reasonable goals acheiveable through lifestyle changes. Readers should keep in mind that the daily nutrition guidelines may have changed since their last health class in high school and that they may have grown-up in different areas of the United States where the preparation of food followed traditional customs that, viewed with today's medical knowledge, added a lot of fat, salt and sugar to the food. (Those were the habits I was accustomed to, spreading butter on everything, salting the whole plate, and spooning sugar on the Sugar Frosted Flakes. Remember we were told that Was Great! by that nutritional wisdomer Tony the Tiger.)

The Weight Management Plan: Diets leave you hungry and feeling deprived because they slow-down your body's metabolic rate (a function of the time it takes to digest the food you eat and turn it into energy, any excess not used-up is stored as FAT!) This slowing of your body's fuel consumption sets the table for the lose-weight gain-weight cycle known as yo-yo dieting. The Curves program soups-up your metabolism, allowing you to burn calories all day long. The strength training portion of the Curves Solution builds calorie burning muscle.

The Curves Plan lets you eat all day long, five small meals rather than three large ones. This is a diet that you can live with, the Curves Meal Plan satisfies your hunger and deals with those less-than-diet-beneficial cravings on the way back to your SUV in the parking lot (Of course you could start walking, or bicycling your curves) this makes it it easier to keep following the curves Solution.

The Big Apple's Curves can be found at www.curvesgramercypk.com ,for other www.curves.com/locations by entering your Zipcode. For information on buying an operating Curves franchise: http://mccordbusinessbrokers.com/listing.asp .

As Sabah Karimi is interested in Franchises she could match-up US Census Bureau data by Zipcodes with the Curves locations that are for sale and excel some graphs about the population in those areas.
