Recently, my wife and I went to the Cussler Museum. Here I have lived in Denver all my life and I never heard of this museum until recently. The museum is a collection of over a hundred fine vintage automobiles. We went with a senior group and someone had knowledge of this place. It was well worth the senior admission of five dollars. It is located in Arvada at 14959 W 69 th Ave. this is an industrial park area and you would never imagine that a museum would be located in that area. I guess you are never too old to discover some new place to visit.

The vehicles are spotless and restored to the original condition. I don't think the paint of the older ones is the original colors of the cars. I could be wrong but I remember most cars of that era as being basic black. The finishes are very well done though. You get to view cars of the fifties and sixties and the other half of the museum is pre World War II vehicles. I forgot how big the cars of the fifties and sixties were. They were gigantic. Then many had continental kits on them and that made them longer. If they got ten miles to the gallon I would be surprised.

In addition to the cars they have signs of the past. Many old service station signs are sprinkled throughout the display of cars with an old gasoline pump, stop lights and soft drink signs. This brings back memories of my younger years when I actually saw these signs along the roads. Remember the Burma Shave signs? They even have one of those to bring back memories of days gone by. Oh, it is so nice to reminisce.

Everything is not old there, they do have a website and it can give you additional information. If you are into cars this is a place to visit. Even if cars are not your thing this place gives you a chance to go down memory lane.
