Silk wedding favor bags are a fun craft you can make yourself to create custom silk wedding favors on a small budget. These silk wedding favor bags are made from silk sold by the yard and can be customized to fit your wedding!

To Make Silk Wedding Favor Bags You Will Need:

Hibachi Silk
Ribbons
Clear resist custom colored
Silk Paint
Sewing machine
Squeeze bottle
Fine metal silk paint tip (#5)

The first step in creating this custom silk wedding favor bags it to paint your silk fabric.

Take your silk fabric and stretch it. It is super cheap to buy canvas wood stretchers and use them to stretch your silk.

Now, you need to paint the whole fabric. Do this buy pouring your silk paint into a large cup or small bucket.

Use a large paint brush to paint the silk fabric in a color that coordinates with your wedding colors.

You now need t let the silk paint dry on the wedding favor fabric. Silk paint will dry quickly.

While the silk paint is drying you can prepare your resist. You can follow the instructions on your bottle of clear resist to color it. In most cases this will involve coloring the clear resist with another color of silk paint.

Pour the colored resist into a small squeeze bottle and slip on a #5 tip. Sounds scary, but it is super easy. The small squeeze bottles can be bought at any art supply store right next to the silk paint. The metal tips are usually in the package with the bottles.

If you can mix chocolate milk you can do this!

Now that your silk wedding favor bag fabric is dry you are ready to go custom with these favors!

Use the colored gutta or resist in the bottle to write on the silk fabric. You can write the names of the bride and groom or even the wedding date!

Let the gutta or resist dry. Iron to set the gutta or resist and silk paint once everything has completely dried.

Now, cut out small rectangles of yoru silk fabric. These need to be about 10 inches wide and 10 inches tall.

Fold t left and right side in about 1/8 inch and iron them down.

Now, do the same with the top.

Now, fold the top over about an inch. Sew this down to create a pocket.

Now, fold the fabric in half with the front or pattern side inside.

Sew all three sides together. Do not sew the pocket closed at the top.

Turn the silk wedding favor bag inside out.

Insert a ribbon though the hole.

You can fill this small silk wedding favor bag with bird see for the bride and groom or even candies almonds. Do not use chocolate that is not wrapped or it will stain the silk wedding favor bags!
