The first step is to find some Amy Butler Fabric. Look at all kinds of Amy Butler Fabric for inspiration.

Wedding invitations traditionally have quite a bit of information printed on the inside, so your paper will need to be big enough to include all of the information you want on there.

You will be painting the front of the invitation and writing your info on the inside.

Once you have found a variety of Amy Butler Fabric you will want to lay them out on some acetate sheets, trace them and cut them out. Use your exacto knife to cut out your Amy Butler Fabric stencils.

Make one stencil for each color on the fabric.

Now you are ready to lay your chosen Amy Butler Fabric stencil patterns out on your heavy water color wedding invitation paper.

You are ready to start painting.

Do not water the paints down, or they will leak under the stencils.

You can use any color you want to match the fabric.

Before I paint my Amy Butler Fabric invitations I always practice a little on a piece of scrap watercolor paper. This way I don't waste a lot of my watercolor paper trying to get the look I want.

Use your stencil brush to pounce on your paint.

So, let the first paint color dry, then add your second stencil and your second paint color. Repeat until finished.

Allow your Amy Butler Fabric wedding invitations to dry thoroughly then you are ready to add your writing. I personally like to write in calligraphy on these beautiful wedding invitations, but you could also print on them as well..

This is great project to do with your bridesmaids, groomsmen, or other family members, especially if you are having a large wedding.

You could also use a gold or silver paint pen to outline the edges, this would be a great detail for a more formal look for your spring wedding invitations. Super fine glitter would also look beautiful on these Amy Butler Fabric invitations as well.

Tip: For a crisp look try buying some watercolor gum medium. This neat product paints on like glue and dries like rubber.

You simply paint on the paper to outline your flower and pattern lines. When you paint it will keep those areas from absorbing paint.

Now, when your paint dries you can rub it off and reveal crisp white outlines to your Amy Butler Fabric wedding invitation.
