Customer Review of Dy-Dee Diaper Service

When I first considered using cloth diapers for my second child, I conducted a lot of research before making my decision. Once I decided we would definitely be using cloth diapers, I knew it would need to be convenient if I was going to keep up with it (and convince my husband that it was worth it!). We ended up choosing to go with a diaper service, and we have been very glad we did, for several reasons.

Convenience
When most people think of cloth diapering, they imagine the yuck and toil of dunking and swirling. This is NOT the way that these diapers work. When you take off the diaper, you just throw it in the bucket. No scraping, no rinsing, nothing. Each week, the friendly Dy-dee driver arrives at my doorstep and exchanges my bucket full of dirty diapers for a bag full of fresh, clean diapers. I never have to worry about running to the store for diapers or checking to see how many we have left, and I never have to wash diapers.

Now, you may wonder if the bucket would start to smell with all that poop in it over a week, but it doesn't. Odors happen because of growing bacteria. Dy-dee's diapers are treated with a special antibacterial agent that prevents odor. I am being completely honest with you... my daughter's room never reeks of dirty diapers.

Plus, I like that I can change sizes and quantities easily each week with just a quick phone call. If I were using cloth diapers on my own without a service, I would need to either buy adjustable size diapers, which are not always as great of a fit on smaller babies, or keep buying the right size diaper as my child grew. With Dy-dee, I am essentially just renting the diapers, so the only thing I need to buy new are a few covers. We seem to be able to get by with 4-6 covers, but if you wanted to only do laundry once a week, I would recommend having 7-10 covers. You can buy them for relatively cheap through Dy-dee or on various websites online.

Leak Prevention
In my experience of using Dy-dee diapers with waterproof covers (such as ProWraps or Thirsties), they are 10 times better at stopping leaks than disposables. With disposables, we had to change my son's clothes several times a day due to leaks. The cloth is so super absorbent, and hugs my daughter's body so much better, that we never seem to have leaks, except for maybe after a long night without a change.

Customer Service
Every time I call Dy-dee diapers, I am incredibly pleased with the people I talk to. They are helpful and polite. In addition, the Dy-dee diaper guy driver who picks up my diapers each week has even taken the extra time to knock on my door and remind me when I forgot to leave out my bucket of diapers. He always has a smile on my face and is consistent with the time of day he leaves them too.

The one drawback...
The only thing I dislike about the diapers is the huge gap between infant size diapers and medium size diapers. We started using infant size diapers when my daughter was 8 pounds (she was 6 pounds and using preemie size diapers the first two weeks after we came home from the hospital). She is now about 10 pounds, and the infant diapers seem a little snug, although still usable. I called and ordered the next size up for this week and was told the next size is medium, which are huge. There is no way they will fit my daughter, so we are going to need to just stick it out for a while with the infant size, but I really wish they had a "small" size in between infant and medium.

Overall, I highly recommend Dy-dee diaper service for a convenient, eco-friendly choice in diapering your baby!
