Location - The Sizzler at 1850 Douglas Blvd. in Roseville is located in the Roseville Shopping Center complex. The Sizzler restaurant is easy to get to once you enter the parking lot of the shopping center. There is ample parking space in front of the entrance to the Roseville Sizzler.
Atmosphere - The atmosphere in the Roseville Sizzler restaurant was fairly calm, even though we arrived at a peak time for lunch, on a Sunday in December which saw a lot of Christmas shoppers out on the roads. The Roseville Sizzler was clean when we visited. The restaurant was quiet and comfortable.
Service - We found the service at the Roseville Sizzler to be adequate. Both the cashier, and our server, were pleasant and courteous. Each member of our family only ordered the serve-yourself salad bar though, so we didn't see the server more than a couple of times.
Salad Bar set-up - The salad-bar at the Roseville Sizzler leaves a lot to be desired. It was clean when we visited, although we arrived shortly after the restaurant opened so we were some of the first patrons at the salad bar for the day. There aren't many positive things to say about it beyond that. The salad offerings are adequate, but nothing great. There is also a small corner with a few hot food selections. The day we visited the Roseville Sizzler, the hot food area included a taco bar, as well as spaghetti with sauce and meatballs, and three varieties of soup. The hot food area is confined to a very small corner, at which only two people can comfortably serve themselves at a time. Additionally, the protective glass barriers above the food is set so low that if anyone above 4 feet tall practically needs to be a gymnast to serve themselves. This was frustrating, because even though people were trying to hurry, the line got backed up, and customers were getting grouchy with those trying to serve themselves. The salad bar also includes a tiny dessert bar, but when we visited the ice cream machine was not working properly, and the only other offerings were Jell-o and institution-variety brownies. Needless to say, we skipped dessert.
Food - The food at the Roseville Sizzler was mediocre. We had visited this location once before and were not happy with the items we ordered from the menu, which is why we chose to stick with just the salad bar on this visit. My young son had gotten a small bowl of chicken soup, which was by far the worst chicken soup I have ever tasted in my entire life. My daughter ate nothing but tomatoes and onion rings, and my taco with rice & beans tasted like something from a public school cafeteria.
Prices - We were charged $9.99 per adult for the all-you-can-eat salad bar, and $4.99 for the same meal for each of our children. I feel these prices were high considering the slim selection of food items, the sad dessert station, and the barely edible food. We can actually pay less at Golden Corral, and the quality and selection of food there is much better.
Overall, I would not recommend the Roseville Sizzler. There are many other dining options in Roseville and surrounding areas that have better food for similar, or even lower, prices. To contact the Roseville Sizzler with questions or comments, call them directly at (916)782-3220.
