Cut 200 Calories a Day and Lose 20 Pounds a Year

M. Kaye Hash
It takes cutting 3500 calories to lose one pound but don't let the high number discourage you. Instead, cut only 200 calories a day and you can lose over 20 pounds in one year. Not only will you lose 20 pounds without having to do much at all, it is very likely that the slow and steady weight loss will stay off.

Look at your own eating habits and you may find it easy to cut 200 calories from your diet and put yourself well on your way to permanent weight loss.

Cut Soda to Cut Calories

Regular soda, such as Mountain Dew, Coke, and Pepsi, all average about 100 calories. Cutting just two cans of your daily soda intake will save you two hundred calories a day. Diet soda can be misleading as its lack of calories does not necessarily mean it is good for you and it is not reducing your need for things that are sweet.

Exercise for 200 Calories For Weight Loss

If you cannot find a way to cut 200 calories from your diet, then take it out on the treadmill. Walking at 5 mph for only 30 minutes a day will put you on the path to permanent weight loss. You could also ride your bike for 30 minutes, skip for fifteen minutes, or do Tae Bo for 20 minutes.

Cut Fries to Cut Calories

French fries at fast food restaurants can quickly rack up your calorie intake for the day. Instead of cutting out French fries completely, just cut back. For example, a large fry from McDonald's contains 500 calories, while a small fry is only 230 calories. That alone will cut 270 calories out of your day. If you eat out every day this will be an easy way to promote your own weight loss.

Cut Starbucks For Weight Loss

Whether it is Starbucks or not, your morning latte will often be over 200 calories. Replace your latte with a morning cup of hot tea and change nothing else and find yourself 20 pounds lighter in one year.

Switch fried for baked or grilled to Cut Calories

Items such as a fried chicken breast can run up to 600 calories. You can half that just by baking a boneless, skinless chicken breast. If you normally eat all of your food fried you will be able easily cut 200 calories just by baking or grilling your food instead of frying it.

These are only small changes and by sticking with them you will find that small changes will add up to big changes in your body.
