Paying too much for your cell phone bill? These are tips that will help you cut down your cell phone bill.

Text Messages

Too much texting can really run up your bill. Even unlimited texting messages may be unnecessary expense. At 10 cents or more for each text message it can really put your bill way up there. Texting comes in handy but when you do it consistently your bill can mount up fast.

Make sure you have the right amount of minutes

If you consistently using all your minutes you may need to upgrade your plan or consider pay as you go. When you go over on your minutes the charges add up quickly. Lets face it phone companies know the majority of people use their phones during the day time. Your minutes can burn up easily during peak hours.

Make calls after 9pm

Most cell phone plans allow unlimited calling after 9pm. Sprint offers it after 7pm. Save your calls for evening unless you absolutely need to call. If your just want to talk to family and friends than do it after the set time.

Take advantage of share plans and in-network calls

Shared plans and in-network calling allows you to use your phone for those in your plan or network whenever you want to. This can save you some minutes and money. Taking advantage of these features will save you money in the long run.

Get rid of services you do not use

If you not using lets say emergency road side assistance get rid of it. Any extra games and ringtones can save you money buy getting rid of them. The cell phone companies want to cell you services that you do not use. This would run up your bill and many times you don't use them enough to justify the extra cost.

Check your bill each month

Check your bill any charges you feel are inaccurate be sure to dispute them. Any charges you do not understand have your cell phone companies customer service explain it to you. Don't accept your bill at face value without going over it carefully.

Get rid of any data services

You really do not need Internet services on your cell phone. It can be expensive and run your bill up. Too much convenience can be an extra expense you really can do without.

Report any lost or stolen phones

Any charges added to your account by someone other than you you are still responsible for. So make sure you report it as soon as possible.

Great article Timothy! I was having trouble myself with not going over on my texts, and making calls only after 9p, but I found a good solution. I switched to Net10 and have their unlimited plan where I only pay $50 and get unlimited talk, text, and web. It's a great deal for me since I use my phone so much. And they use the AT&T and Verizon networks, so I haven't dropped a call yet.

Unles your in a business. You dont need a cell phone i think people use them to try to look cool and popular. I also think they use them to ignore people and act like their busy, because people just get plain uncomfortable in public sometimes. They also are a cause of brain disorders. If you must have an emergency phone even a deactivated prepaid cell phone can dial 911 if your car breaks down or etc. I bet most people would have ceell phone withdrawal cravings without one. so sad. Your brainwashed. I love my magic jack landline phone at home. 20.00 a month no strings attached.

Additional Tip: If you have a cell phone plan that offers unlimited incoming calls, use a callback service. It allows you to do unlimited outgoing calls using your unlimited incoming minutes. So you make all the calls you want without using your outgoing minutes and therefore can use the cheapest unlimited incoming calls plan available to make and receive all the calls you want.

For Canadian users, there is a service called Mobilimax - good voice quality, quick call connection, low rate.

I've been using it for 4 months now and it works fine.
