Two astronauts,
spinning into space,
holding hands,
each one knowing that they
will eventually run out of air,
each one accepting that their last traces
will eventually disappear into the void,
neither in control,
neither letting go,
funneling their fear into each other
and directing their attention to
the beauty of their circumstances,
relishing the color and chaos
and the touch of another's hand,
choosing
with the conviction of
priests and heroes
to see disaster as adventure,
to live for the sake of life.
