Cut Your Own Hair by the Phases of the Moon

Marli
The average inexpensive haircut costs around $20, and if you're a stickler about keeping your hair trimmed and maintained like me, those costs can really start to add up. If you happen to have your hair cut once a week, the cost can be $80 a month- just for chopping off those dead cells we call hair! Therefore, this is a guide to keeping your hair inexpensively healthy and maintained.

Cut Your Own Hair
There are a lot of people out there who are terrified of the idea of cutting their own hair, but there's really no reason to fret. Cutting your hair is usually pretty quick and easy. All you need is a genuine pair of hair scissors and a little courage. My favorite plan of action is to go to a well-known salon like Toni and Guy for a really cute haircut and in between cuts I do all of the trimming. There are many websites with tutorials on how to cut your own hair, but for the most part, it's pretty easy.

Cut By Moon Phases
I know that a lot of people don't believe in Astrology, but it's worked for me. Many Astrology buffs time their haircuts in relation to the phases of the moons, but you don't have to believe in Astrology to notice the logic in this. The moon regulates the shifts in the tide (whether it's low tide or high tide) because of the gravitational pull it has with the Earth, therefore, during certain times, many believe that the moons "pulling" can apply to hair growth also. In order to promote faster growing hair, it's better to cut it around the time of the New Moon Phase. And, in order to promote thicker and fuller hair, it needs to be cut during the Full Moon Phase. For some reason, the signs that benefit the most from the changes in the moon seem to be Taurus, Cancer, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. Additionally, there are rules for other signs that can be found through a simple Internet search. Regardless, the insight into the moon phases that the role they play in hair growth are interesting and worth a try.

Whether or not you personally believe in the benefits of cutting hair by the phases of the moon, trimming your own hair has many tangible benefits (like the cash left in your purse). If you're sceptical, start out small. Soon, you'll be trimming your hair multiple times a week and receiving constant compliments on your "new 'do". I will be writing a follow-up article, which will give more information about cutting your hair by the phases of the moon so keep an eye out!

I would like a chart for cutting hair to encourage and discourage growth. This is for my dogs.
    Thank you,

I have always given myself trims. I have been doing it since I was a teen. My hair up until 1 year ago has always been very long, so to maintain it, I would just trim it, twice a week. Great tips.
