Cute Baby Halloween Costume Ideas

A.K.A. How to Induce Smiles Everywhere You Go This Halloween

Aida Shallcross
With Halloween just around the corner, many moms are getting busy with finding costumes for their little ones. But what about infants? Being the mother of a child who will be under 12 months when this Halloween hits, I know that she can't enjoy trick or treating at this point. But there are so many cute outfits out there, it's hard not to get excited about dressing her up to visit family and get some really cute pictures.

You can find a wide array of baby costumes at any local party stores or even cheaper if you are internet savvy!

Here are some ideas for baby Halloween costumes that are sure to have you and anyone else that spots your little monster giggling:

Bunting Costumes:
For the real little ones (probably best for 6 months & younger), bunting costumes are outfits that don't have 'legs' so the baby is basically in an enclosed sack-like outfit. And if you live in a colder climate, this is perfect for keeping your little one warm while showing off how adorable they are.

Ideas:
any kind of animals (I've seen bunnies, lambs, bats, etc.)
vegetables (chili peppers, pea pods, pumpkins, etc.)
superheroes (Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, etc.)

Animal Costumes:
The possibilities are endless here, and the choices are pretty popular from what I've seen.

lion
lamb
bunny
ladybug
cat
monkey
bumble bee
cow
billy goat
dragonfly
butterfly
duck
chicken

Occupation Costumes:
Babies with 'jobs' always bring a smile, especially if you're able to have your little one represent the field you're in.

firefighter
police officer
nurse
doctor
office worker
military
cheerleader
cowboy
chef

Fantasy Costumes:
For the geek parents or for those who like to dream big, it's fun to dress up your little man or little woman in these unique ideas.

angel
devil
Star Wars (Yoda, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Chewbacca)
princess
dragon
pirate
fairy
dinosaur
whoopie cushion

Food Costumes:
I personally am always saying my daughter is so cute I could just 'eat her up'. Here are some ideas along the lines of food.

ice cream cone
lobster
strawberry
hot dog
Tootsie roll
pepper
Hershey's Kiss
Sugar Babies wrapper
taco

Halloween is a fun time, but it's not just for kids to enjoy. I think that parents can have such a good time in seeing the little people in their lives dressed up and looking adorable. I know I'm looking forward to dressing up my munchkin and having a good laugh!
