CVS Free & Clear Ultra Laundry Detergent is Just That

While staying at our timeshare, on Treasure Island beach, I figured I might as well use their washing machine, and dryer to do the laundry before heading home.

Rather that buy a bottle of detergent at the supermarket, or drugstore, I always take a trial, or sample size packet with me.

This time it was the CVS Free & Clear Ultra Laundry Detergent. The one I received from CVS is the trial size, which equals 1 load. It came in a blue plastic pouch, and contained 3.2 fluid ounces (94.5 ml).

So tonight I decided to do the washing. I put our weeks personal washing into the machine, set the machine to a warm wash, and put it on the large cycle. I then tore the top off of the pouch, and poured it onto the clothes.

There was no fragrance that wafted up to my nose. The color of the Free & Clear Ultra Laundry Detergent is clear, which I was expecting. This is also hypo allergenic. I figured that this product may be too good to be true, so the only way to find out would be to start the load.

Once the water had filled the machine, and it started it's movement, the soap suds were there. The water looked clean, and even halfway through the wash, the water wasn't a really dirty color. The cycle continued through rinse, and then spin.

I took the clothes out, and it was strange for them not to smell. Most of my laundry products have a fresh, outdoor smell to them. When I put the clothes into the dryer I put a Bounce dryer sheet in with them.

Once the drying was complete I had my fresh smelling clothes. Once I had them all out of the dryer, I laid them on the bed, to see how the detergent had performed.

Both my husband, and my socks where really white. The underwear, which sometimes I use a pre-treat on at home, came out brilliant. This really surprised me as I hadn't used a hot wash. Our tee shirts were great too. Len had blood spots earlier this week on one of his tee shirts. I did rinse it under cold water, when it happened, but left it a couple of days before washing it. Finally the beige colored shorts, which had a chocolate stain on them came out perfectly clean too.

So now I have found a detergent that is 'free from perfumes, and clear of dyes', and it gets a weeks worth of clothes clean. Staying at the beach the clothes were probably a harder task for this detergent than when we are at home.

On the back of the sachet it states:

"Just as in the National Brands, using CVS Free & Clear Ultra Laundry Detergent in your wash, as directed, will help to eliminate dust mite matter and certain fragrances that are known allergens".

It also says on the bottom of the sachet, "If you like this, try our full size bottle." I am certainly planning on doing so.
