CVS Pharmacy Brand Instant Coffee : $1 Per Jar

Consumer Product Review

Thomas J McCabe
Over the course of the past few weeks, I have purchased and consumed several jars of CVS Pharmacy brand Just The Basics Instant Coffee. These small containers of coffee are priced at just $1 each.

Just The Basics is a new line of bargain priced products distributed by and at CVS Pharmacies across America. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is an article which reviews and examines CVS Pharmacy brand Just The Basics Instant Coffee.

Size
The net weight of the standard - sized container of CVS Pharmacy brand Just The Basics Instant Coffee is 1.76 ounces (50 grams). The label on this product does not list the number of servings helld in the container. I'm only guessing, but I think that each jar yields roughly 12 - 15 teaspoons of coffee.

In physical size, the container measures approximately 5" x 1.75". The small size, as well as the price, is what initially drew me to this product. To me, the little container looks neat and is a nice back up jar of coffee to keep on hand.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 1.76 ounce container of CVS Pharmacy brand Just The Basics Instant Coffee at CVS Pharmacies across America is $1. This instant coffee is one of the many products that are normally stocked and sold in the 'Ten for $10' section of most CVS Pharmacies.

Availability
As far as I know, CVS Pharmacy brand Just The Basics Instant Coffee is available at most CVS Pharmacies. If you've never seen the 'Ten for $10' section at your local CVS Pharmacy, it is usually situated close to the regular packaged food section.

If your local CVS Pharmacy does not usually stock and sell this item, try asking the store manager if it can be ordered and stocked in the future.

Taste / Flavor
CVS Pharmacy brand Just The Basics Instant Coffee offers a pleasing, mellow flavor that is comparable to many name brand varieties of instant coffee. Unfortunately, a fairly large amount of this coffee is needed to produce a full strength cup of coffee.

So far, I have purchased and consumed three jars of this coffee and I have been combining it with other brands of instant coffee. For example, I will add one teaspoon of a name brand variety of instant coffee to hot water in my coffee mug, then top it off with 3/4 of a teaspoon of the CVS Pharmacy brand Just The Basics Instant Coffee.

On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would rate this product an eight.

Value
In my humble opinion, CVS Pharmacy brand Just The Basics Instant Coffee is a reasonably - priced product. If it is measured out on a per serving basis, it might not neccesarily be a bargain, but overall, I think the item is a good value.

At just one dollar for a jar, this coffee is a good item to purchase, then store as a when needed product. Because a substantial amount of this item is needed to produce a satisfying cup of coffee, you'd probably be better - off buying two jars.

Packaging
CVS Pharmacy brand Just The Basics Instant Coffee is packaged in a small, clear glass jar with a white front label and a red screw on top. The front label features a red lower - case b and a cup of coffee in the foreground. Just above the b are the words "Just The Basics" in barely - visible, light silver lettering.

You have to look hard to see the words "Just The Basics" on the label.

Overall Rating
All things considered, CVS Pharmacy brand Just The Basics Instant Coffee is a good product to store in the cupboard, office, glove compartment, etc. Its inexpensive price makes it an appealing product, but the coffee is fairly weak and requires almost twice as much as many other brands to prepare a good cup of mud. Nonetheless, this product, which is available at CVS Pharmacies everywhere, is recommended.
