CVS Pharmacy Review

Marsha J
CVS Pharmacy stores began to pop up all over Florida throughout the last five years, but unless I need a prescription filled I tend not to shop at pharmacies. I decided to review CVS while I stopped off to do a small shopping errand and my first visit was not the best.

The pharmacy was pretty much empty at the time that I began to shop and upon entering the store I noticed that there seemed to be no employees present at all. The aisles of the pharmacy were clean and all of the products and different items were labeled correctly and neatly lined the pharmacy shelves.

The back of CVS is where the pharmacy section is located and back there is also where you will find over the counter medical supplies such as band aids. I was disappointed to note the long line by the time I made my way back to the front of the store to check out and flipped through a magazine to pass the time.

More people formed a line behind me and after more than five minutes I reached the front of the line. I handed the cashier two extra dollars and asked her if she could give me some change for the water machine. The cashier said that it would not be a problem and continued ringing up the items. The cashier took the money I gave her to pay for my items and when the register opened she inserted the two dollars and promptly closed the till.

A bit confused I waited in line as she handed me my bags and stood waiting for my change. The CVS cashier seemed even more confused because I did not leave the line after my purchase. I quickly explained about the change and ended up waiting almost 30 minutes until another customer paid cash. If a customer pays with plastic the register does not open. As I waited all that time it did not escape my notice that the manager who has a key to the register was standing nearby but the cashier never once called her over to open the register except when she made a mistake on another customers receipt.

The cashier closed the register again before realizing that she still had not given me my change. She apologized but did not call the manager over. After I finally received my change I was less than happy but a few weeks later I gave CVS another chance when I stopped by to get some vitamins.

I picked up the vitamins I wanted and discovered that I had to pay in the back by the pharmacy. I seemed to have chosen a very bad time to do some shopping. There was only one worker and one Pharmacist in the pharmacy section and to pay for a box of over the counter vitamins, I had to wait over an hour and fifteen minutes.

CVS Pharmacy is clean and the employees are friendly. I wish I had more to say about this store but I do not. The wait time, long lines and bad service means that I will never shop at this pharmacy unless it is my last option.
