CWFI Devotional Bible Guide: Aaron Lesson Nine the Gnats

The Adventures: The Gnats

Dr. Phillip Clark
Exodus 8:16-19

A. And the LORD spoke to Moses, Say to Aaron, "Stretch out your rod and hit the dust on the ground. Then everywhere in Egypt the dust will become lice." Verse 17 Aaron raised the rod that was in his hand and hit the dust on the ground, the dust everywhere in Egypt became lice. The lice got on the people and animals.

B. Pharaoh's magicians tried to duplicate the same curse of the Egyptian people with no success. They just couldn't make the dust into lice like Moses and Aaron.

C. The lice remained on the people and animals. The magicians admitted to the king that only the power of God could make lice from dust.

D. But the king was stubborn and refused to obey Moses and Aaron as the LORD had spoken. (Note: Lice=kinnum=gnats. Greek=knips/knipes. Arabic=kaml=louse. This plague by all means was annoying to the plants, vegetation, hair, skin, animals, clothing, and the occupants of Egypt. The gnats creep and climbed under clothing creating itching. The saliva of these insects could irritate the skin. The small toxic saliva gland caused an reactionary rash and/or small blisters.)
