CW's Premiere Week Promises Something for Everyone

The CW Network became the first to announce its fall premiere week in June and has a week full of new shows starting on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Some of the CW's old favorites get new life and some series will be never-before-seen according to Deadline.com.

There are many reasons to be excited about CW's premiere week. These are ten reasons why any sane human being will be tuned in the second week of September.

Disney Channel alums Aly Michalka and Ashley Tisdale star in the show Hellcats about pre-law students who get there following different paths. Michalka plays a student who loses her scholarship and must compete on the school's cheerleading squad that is run by a brunette Tisdale. The fur and feathers fly when both young women turn the squad upside down. Imagine Gossip Girl meets Bring It On and you've got Hellcats.

La Femme Nikita gets a reboot when Maggie Q stars as the titular Nikita, a sexy and seductive spy that is the female version of James Bond. As Bond is debonair and smooth with the ladies, Nikita is sassy and won't take no for an answer. Men will like Maggie Q's take on the spy with long legs. Women will even take to some of the actors in the show such as Aaron Stanford, the critically acclaimed actor who has starred in two of the X-Men films as the fire-wielding mutant Pyro.

While it's no Project Runway, getting the inside scoop on what it's like to be a competitive runway model returns with America's Next Top Model. Who gets the big contract this go-round? Tyra Banks is back for the 15^th running of this show as well as some of her best fashionistas such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Karolina Kurkova, and Zac Posen.

Gossip Girl is the show that never dies. Despite getting worse and worse ratings the show returns with the kids of Manhattan getting older and finding love, romance, and adventure in Europe. Things get hot in Paris while Chuck gets his life back on track. Who starts this year on top? Gossip Girl premieres on September 13.

Vampire shows are all the rage and Vampire Diaries is one of CW's top-rated shows. Continuing with the CW's sexy shows, Vampire Diaries chronicles the saga between two brothers in love with the same woman. When this love triangle explodes, watch out. If you can't get enough Twilight, this show is for you.

Smallville is my favorite show on the CW. Ever since the show began on the fledgling network it has been the cornerstone of their programming. Still one of the CW's most-watched shows, the final season of Smallville pits Superman against his father's arch-nemesis General Zod. Clark Kent finally accepts his destiny in what is surely going to be a spectacular send off. My favorite appearances on the entire show have been the late Christopher Reeve and Terence Stamp, both of whom made the original Superman movies iconic superhero flicks thirty years ago.

90210 is a modern remake of the 1990s soap opera that made Tori Spelling and Jason Priestley famous. The newer version enters into its third season as senior year begins at West Beverly Hills High. Of course, the show revolves around drama and relationships which appeals to the teenage demographic. Hopefully the writers will keep the show from becoming irrelevant after an appealing start. Senior Year is always a good reason to watch a show.

To return to the CW's new shows, I would be interested to see how Alyson Michalka returns to regular television. She disappeared into Disney's music scene after Phil of the Future and she's finally got another series in which to act. I always though she did a good job as Phil Diffy's love interest and best friend on the show and she deserves another shot to make a name for herself.

One show that I hope keeps going forward is Supernatural. The often gritty and dark show appeals to many demographics and is a cross between a Stephen King-type Apocalyptic novel and one of the many incarnations of vampire shows on right now. The Winchester brothers will try to outdo themselves in the sixth season as their battles against evil take it up a notch as they try to outwit Hell once again.

My last reason to watch the CW's premiere week is that they are all new shows. For one fantastic one, sometimes two weeks, there are no re-runs even though there are only two new shows that have never aired. The stability of the CW is apparent and its shows appeal to just about everyone hence there are so many returning shows with some of the best actors on television that don't make the headlines on a daily basis since they stick to their acting jobs and stay out of the tabloids.
