This is a sonnet poem I wrote back in high school. It's fun for me to look back at what I used to write and to see how similar my mind works almost 10 years later. I know I've grown up and either become more optimistic or more cynical depending on the day. But the actual themes I write about and the styles haven't changed much over the years!
There are 24 hours in a day,
But do we use them well?
Do we throw our lives away?
Can we ever tell?
Sometimes days go by with speed -
They end up being fun.
But sometimes there is more we need
Than just to see the sun.
On a day that rain rules in the sky,
The life begins to grow.
The falling world beings to try
To put itself on show.
When the day comes to an end,
Maybe you can find a friend.

aww what a very lovely poem, thank you!
Beautiful job. :-)
Lovely poem, Jill!
I saw a tv news magazine show about an indigenous tribe in Thailand who survived the tsunami of 2005 who have no notion of time... But I bet the preciousness of their existence is measured much the same way you wrote... if they enjoy it and have friends to share their enjoyment with. :o) Thanks for a great read!
The more things change...the more they stay the same!
Great Poem
So good.
