This year's anniversary of the 9/11 attacks was marked by other sad news in Brooklyn: Jasmine Heron, 23, was killed by a bus as she avoided an open car door as she passed by on her bicycle, "The Brooklyn Paper" reported.

Another woman was arrested the same day for her involvement in the sad accident. Krystal Francis, 24, from Staten Island, was getting into her Dodge Status parked at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Washington at about 8:38 p.m. As she opened her door, she clipped Heron, a Flatbush resident.

Heron was thrown into the path of the oncoming B45 bus as it turned onto Washington Avenue. She was killed on the scene.

Immediately following the accident, Francis attempted to flee the scene in her car but was dragged back by officers. She initially claimed she had nothing to do with the accident but changed her story later.

Francis was charged with driving with a suspended license.
