if I were a cypher
if I were a man
if I were my whole self
- you do not understand!
all this has happened
in the blink of an eye
you don't know what hit you!
- if I could just fly..
I always was certain
so sure of these things
that God was in heaven
and Saturn had rings
that true love and Beauty,
for me, were enough
forgetting their nature
they go, as they must
and now the remainder
in front of you stands
if I were a cypher
if I were a man
if I were my whole self,
I would not understand.
