Dad

Poem

Kady Birdwhistle
So, I'm listening to Ricky Nelson
Back when music was good

And I'm thinking of you
You tell me you have no reason

I want to tell you that's not true
You the point every time

Family is not what is behind you
It is what is ahead, the future

My heart breaks for you
My heart breaks for you

You should have held me more
As a child you should have

I should have been a better child
I should have been a better daughter

So the music changed to the Thompson Twins
They are singing the song Hold Me Now

And I think of you so vividly
You as that young man, a Marine

Dad, there is a reason to live
I hate it when you say there isn't

It makes me hate my skin
It me hate my beating heart

YOU GAVE ME THAT
YOU GAVE ME THAT HEART

It breaks for you
It breaks for you

Never try to change the past, it is gone, live for today. I can so relate to your dad, but I know now there is plenty to live for. Be the pillar to make his foundation, strong again. Good Job Miss Kady.ken
